Oracle Database Administrator:

Role in Brief

The Oracle Database Administrator will be a critical member of the InfoCepts’ evolving business intelligence solutions practice. The person will be responsible for performance tuning of oracle datawarehouse database in cluster environment.

Oracle Database Administration, UNIX, D2K, Discoverer, APPS DBA

Specific responsibilities include:

* Strong knowledge on Oracle performance tuning using tools like Statspack, tkprof etc.
* Knowledge of designing and maintaining summary tables
* Installation of Oracle on Windows and UNIX platforms.
* Design of databases. Sizing and planning for growth of database
* Fine tuning of queries/stored procedure and administering databases.
* Monitoring database performance and systematic troubleshooting of problems.
* Managing job queues and using Oracle auditing.
* Normal day-to-day activities of Oracle database administration. Maintenance & scripting in Shell, SQL & PL/SQL.
* Work directly with the US clients, prospects, and partners, as necessary.

Preferred Background:

Candidate should be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of the following skills (should be able to describe related configuration files and parameters):

* Strong fundamentals on RDBMS
* Practical hands on experience on using performance tuning tools
* Practical hands on experience on fine-tuning the database parameters
* Practical hands on experience on designing and implementing extents, tablespace for optimum performance
* Minimum of 3 years database administration, Applications DBA or Core technology product experience
* Sound conceptual knowledge and exposure to Oracle 8i, 9i
* Practical hands on installation, configuration of Oracle and its components.
* Knowledge of Oracle functionality with respect to different hardware and OS platforms.
* Management of Oracle databases, table spaces, indexes and Archive logs.
* Knowledge on backup and restore methodology and good understanding of backup tools
* Experience with datawarehouse related performance tuning desirable
* Experience with Multinational software development organizations in India or overseas is desirable
* OCP – Oracle Certified Professional and OCM – Oracle Certified Master certification preferred.
